I agree with the technology of human gene therapy because it has great benefits for diseases that humans suffer from if all the risks and failure rates decrease. There are many diseases that are ailing humans and there is no cure or treatment for some of them. If gene therapy could help by eliminating diseases such as cancer, and many other, it would end the needless suffering. If curing the disease means changing a bad gene for a good, then I feel that it should be done.
I do feel that changing healthy genes to make enhancement such as increase in IQ, increase in height and any other non-related diseases is morally wrong. I believe that diseases that are life-threatening and incurable should be cured if possible by using human gene therapy. But, I do not believe in altering normal human beings, especially by those people who want to create the "perfect" child.
I believe that human gene therapy will have a great impact on our society and more funding should be allowed for human gene therapy so that more research can be done to improve the techniques for this technology.
